Design
Alienware has always produced well-designed products. Be it laptops or desktops, the design has never been dull. The same can be said in this case as well. The design of this new desktop is very impressive. They have taken the usual rectangle cabinet and made it their own.
It is stylish and sure as hell looks premium. Another cool thing about this design is that you can lay it both horizontally and vertically depending on the space available on your room. Either way it looks awesome. It might look like we have a bias but that thing is really beautiful.
You can also customize the lighting on the left hand side of the cabinet. You can choose from 20 colors and light up three zones. This can potentially lead to 8000 color combinations which is really cool. For a desktop, this one is not that heavy. It weighs just around 12 pounds which is easy to move around.
As far as the design is concerned, you will not be disappointed.
Hardware
There is no monitor here as this is a standalone desktop. You can, however, go through our monitor section and find a display that is perfect in your budget for gaming.
The Alienware X51 AX51R2-4292BK desktop is powered by an Intel core i5 processor that clocks at 3.2GHz.This is a 4th gen processor which has good processing power and is the right choice for a mid-range gaming device.
This processor can run all the games without any problem. Apart from gaming, it can also help you with any application you want. There is also an option to opt for an i7 processor, but it just increases the price by, a huge amount. For us, this i5 is just as good as the i7 for a gaming desktop.
There are 8 gigs of dual channel DDR3 RAM. This is a decent amount of memory to have in a gaming machine. Many people might say that 8GB isn’t that great for gaming which isn’t actually true. Yes, there will be a better performance if you have 16GB of RAM but having 8GB is nowhere near bad.
The best thing about having a desktop is that you can upgrade whenever you want to. So if you feel like your RAM is not doing you justice, go and upgrade your memory just like that.

HD 7.1 performance audio with Waves MaxxAudio gives you a neat audio experience and it cool for gaming. There are 6 USB 3.0 ports which can be pretty handy when it comes to external connectivity and data transfer. There is also dual layer DVD burner. There is 802.11b/g/n connectivity for wireless, but the lack of Bluetooth might disappoint some.
