Design
This desktop is shorter than most other laptops in the tower model from Dell. It is slightly more compact as well. Other than that, you will find it hard to find any other difference in the design. That is not a bad thing, as a working, successful design can only good for the users.
A minor issue here is that there are no ports on the front side. So even if you have to stick up a USB drive, you’ll have to get up and find the ports on the back. Though there are enough ports on the backside, this can be a little irritating at times. There are vents on the sides that help with the process of ventilation.
The desktop weighs around 17 pounds. You can move this thing around without any issues. Another important thing to mention is that this is a standalone model. It does not come with a monitor, and you’ll have to get one individually.
Dell Inspiron i3847-1697BK Specs
The Dell Inspiron i3847-1697BK features an Intel Pentium G3260 processor with a clock speed of 3.3GHz. This is a dual-core processor that comes with decent power in its hand to cater for all your everyday needs. With a CPU Mark score of 3256, this processor can even handle some mid and high-end work when required. You will have a smooth experience with this Intel chip as the brains of your machine.
There are only 4 gigs of RAM in the memory department. If you are a light user, then this RAM is plenty. You can do more stuff at the same time. You can browse the web while downloading something and listening to your favorite song. This is just one thing, and the possibilities are endless.
You can also upgrade the RAM as this is a desktop PC. But the maximum RAM capacity is limited to 8 gigs, and that’s a bit of a bummer.
The 1TB hard drive comes with enough space for your games, movies, tv shows, songs, pictures and other important stuff. At this price range, you really can’t ask for a better hard drive. It also comes with the operating system pre-loaded.
Windows 10 is a brilliant improvement of the not so famous Windows 8.1. It comes with some exciting stuff like Cortana, Xbox streaming, Edge Browser and many more. If you are a Windows user who waited for a better version to come out, this is it.
This is not a gaming desktop, and it shows. The only gaming possible in this case is some casual gaming, thanks to the integrated graphics card. If you are a serious gamer, you can try adding a GPU or look for a different machine altogether.
The Dell Inspiron i3847-1697BK model wireless connectivity like WiFi and Bluetooth. There are 8 USB ports, an HDMI port and also an 8-in-1 media card reader. There is also a tray-load DVD drive for all you DVD lovers out there.
Dell Inspiron i3847-1697BK Review: The Verdict
This is an entry-level desktop and for this price, it is a good machine. The processor is a capable one and will cater to the needs of light users like students, home users, and others. If you are looking for a basic computer at a budget price, look no further.
