Design

This is a compact desktop. The form factor is small and you can take this along with you anywhere. Think of it as the MacMini of Dell. ASUS has tried something similar and had some success with it. It is now Dell’s turn and they have started on the right foot.

The desktop is very clean. There is a power button in the front. There are a couple of USB ports in the back and an SD card reader in the left side. The ventilation can be found at the bottom. With dimensions of 5.16 x 5.16 x 2.07 inches, it weighs just around 1.3 pounds which is very light for a desktop.

Overall, it is a good design but the number of ports can be less for the people of this age.

The desktop, on the other hand, is powered by an Intel Celeron J1800 processor that clocks at 2.41GHz. With the help of turbo boost, you can get clock speeds up to 2.58GHz. This is an entry-level processor that is suited for simple tasks like checking email, browsing the web, casual games and other day to day activities.

There are only 2 gigs of DDR3 RAM that comes with the Dell Inspiron 3000 USFF i3050-2999BLK desktop. This is a minimum RAM you need these days. People might even question if it is possible to run a PC with this kind of RAM. The answer is you can.

Intel HD graphics card is the GPU here. This integrated graphics card is good for casual gaming and nothing more. Graphics rendering is pretty decent and you can run even two monitors with this GPU.

There is no optical drive, thanks to the super compact design. There is a single USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port which should be good enough for your data transferring needs. There is also a media card reader which can come in very handy.

This new desktop from Dell is very cheap. But it comes with a lot of compromises.
