HP Pavilion 23-q012 Review

HP Pavilion 23-q012 review

In this HP Pavilion 23-q012 review, we are going to look at a new all-in-one desktop from HP that is mainly aimed at the light and entry-level users. The price tag associated with the product is also not that bad. If you are looking for an all-in-one solution for your computer needs, then a machine like this should interest you.

One thing to note here is that this is not a very powerful machine. There is power, no doubt, but it is nowhere near the latest Intel and AMD processors. You can get your everyday work done without any hiccups, though. Confused? Read the full review and know more about this desktop computer.

Design

The HP Pavilion 23-q012 comes with a pretty design. It reminds us about the iMac in a lot of ways but nevertheless is still a good-looking desktop computer. The build quality is impressive and tells you that this is a premium device. The stand is sturdy and fares well. You can only tilt the display front and back which is sort of a setback.

The keyboard and the mouse are pretty neat additions. Both of them are wireless, and that means no messy wires in your table. The chiclet style keyboard are great to type on while the mouse does what is expected of it. At 17.8 pounds, you can easily move this thing around if you intend to. Overall, a practical design that also looks great.

HP Pavilion 23-q012 Specs

One of the major selling points of this machine is the display. We have a 23-inch widescreen LED-backlit display that comes with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. This is easily one of the best displays you can get in a desktop computer. It is also an IPS panel which leads to some excellent viewing angles. The display is great for watching TV shows, streaming videos online, and other kinds of media as well.

The display is also a touchscreen and a sensible one as well. With a touch-optimized operating system in place, this touchscreen will be handier that you can think. Though we don’t see how this will be practical in a desktop computer, we’ll let you judge on that front.

The HP Pavilion 23-q012 is powered by an AMD A8 7410 quad-core processor that comes with a clock speed of 2.2GHz. This processor can reach a clocking frequency up to 2.5 with the help of a turbo, and that’s impressive. With a CPU Mark score of 2576, this processor can be put into the light or entry-level category.

The processor does a good job in running the operating system and basic applications without any problems. You can carry on with your everyday tasks like browsing the web, streaming videos, sending and receiving emails smoothly as the processing power here is sufficient for these activities.

HP Pavilion 23-q012 all in one desktopThere are 4 gigs of RAM in the memory slots. This is enough memory for a light or a casual user. You can multitask freely and do more at the same time. The memory might be borderline considering the time we live in, but should be enough for a couple of years at least (for light users). You can’t upgrade the memory, so be sure to opt for more memory if you need more.

For storage, we have a 1024GB Serial ATA hard drive with a speed of 7200RPM. This is a spacious hard drive that can be used to store all your games, videos, pictures, movies, songs, software and other important data as well. It also comes with Windows 8.1 operating system.

You can upgrade to Windows 10 easily without any issues. With a load of new features, that’s an upgrade that will do you a lot of good.

The graphics card here is the integrated Radeon R5 graphics card. This is an entry-level GPU just like the processor and allows you to run some mid-range games at best. You can try running some high-end games, but reducing settings might be the only way to.

The desktop comes with a good set of connectivity options. It has both wireless Internet connectivity and Bluetooth built in. There is also a DVD writer that should come in handy. Not to mention, you also get all the essential ports as well.

HP Pavilion 23-q012 Review: Verdict

This HP Pavilion 23-q012 review talked about the specs and what they could mean to you. This is an entry-level device and comes at a good price. For a light user, it will be hard to find a multimedia desktop like this. Go for it, if you are planning to buy a desktop that is great for media consumption.
