HP Pavilion x360 13-a010nr 13.3-Inch Convertible Laptop Review

Review

The HP Pavilion x360 13-a010nr 13.3-Inch Convertible Laptop is part of a new wave of notebooks from HP’s x360 convertible series. Aimed at those who want the ultimate flexibility, this notebook has a 360° hinge which provides four different user configurations. It can be easily rotated from a laptop to a stand, which is great for video chat or watching movies. Alternatively, it can be rotated to a tent style position, which is nice for gaming as you don’t need to lean over the keyboard to operate the touch screen. Finally, it can be converted into a tablet for full mobility on the go, lessening the amount of gadgets you need to own.

HP got the aesthetics spot on with this model, making it a real looker. The main chassis has a sleek horizontal brushing in natural silver. The cover is finished in ash silver to round off the modern design perfectly.

Since most of the cost has been put into the highly flexible design and touch screen, the spec of this notebook is pretty modest. It sports a 2.4 GHz AMD A8-6410 Processor and 4 GB DDR3L SDRAM. This mid-range spec will run all modern multimedia titles just fine as well as general software and mid-range games. A 500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive is fitted, which is nothing to write home about, but takes care of storage just fine.

This notebook incorporates the latest in touch screen technology with its impressive 13.3-inch diagonal HD WLED-backlit touch screen display, so highly responsive interaction is assured as you tap, swipe and pinch the screen. The built-in front-facing HP TrueVision HD Webcam works perfectly with the stand mode so you can chat with friends or family while experiencing optimum viewing. Thanks to the webcams built-in microphone, you don’t need to have an external mic at the ready.

All standard ports you’d expect to find on a full-sized laptop are included. These include two high speed USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, HDMI port, RJ-45, Headphone-out/microphone-in combo jack plus a built-in media card reader. Wireless features are also good with 1x1 802.11b/g/n WLAN plus Bluetooth, so you can connect to a wireless network or Bluetooth accessories.

Cons

- No SDD drive. If you want the ultimate in speedy loading this is a drawback.
