Review of HP EliteBook 8560p 15.6-Inch Business Laptop
HP has just reported their new business oriented notebook with codename HP EliteBook 8560P. The EliteBook 8560P business notebook is developed under an aerospace-inspired HP DuraCase and meets the MIL-STD 810G military-standard for drop, vibration, dust, humidity, altitude, and high temperature. HP EliteBook 8560P available with starting price at $1,099.
The display is 15.6 inches; we had a pre-production model in the lab, with a basic 1366 x 768 resolution. However, the production model will feature a more impressive 1600 x 900 panel. The 8560p features an island keyboard reminiscent of the HP Envy 17, though sadly sans-backlighting. Instead, HP’s signature pop-out keyboard light sits beside the webcam. It’s a bit dinky, but it works.

The laptops also feature new USB 3.0 ports and a USB 2.0 charging port, in addition to a range of wireless connectivity options, choice of multiple operating systems, and either a hard disk drive or a higher-performance solid-state disk drive.
The latest version of HP QuickWeb now includes a Web browser, e-mail functionality offline, video conferencing with Skype and other widgets for weather, stock quotes or applications of social media. The updated version of HP Connection Manager is a single application that manages integrated mobile broadband connections and communicates the status of Ethernet and Wi-Fi. The software supports 3G/4G, Wi-Fi and Ethernet on most networks in Windows 7, Vista and XP and has been redesigned to integrate with HP Client Automation.
The EliteBook 8560p now shares the same battery type as the EliteBook 8460p (which is the same battery used by HP’s 14 inch business notebooks for the past several years). Big-time HP fans (me, for instance) will know that HP’s 15 inch business notebooks have always used the same battery type as the larger 17 inch models; so you got an 8-cell HP EliteBook 8560p battery that was flush with the notebook. Now that there’s been a change, you’ll only get a flush battery on the EliteBook 8560p if you go with the 6-cell option; a 9-cell battery is available, but it sticks out the back quite a bit.
The new Elitebooks will seem eerily similar to the Apple Macbook Pros, although that might have been intentional. Aluminum metal, which can only be found on the lid and palm rest area in the previous generation, is now used throughout. Lid closed and looking at it from the bezel, the clean lines, minimal lights, and light silver color are very Macbook Pro-ish. It's a thicker and heavier laptop, though (the 15-inch Elitebook 8560p compared to the Macbook Pro 15-inch, that is); it's thicker than inch and weighs over 6 pounds, by my estimates.
HP EliteBook 8560p Notebook designed for high class business people and for heavy work load. It has 15.6 inch HD LED Display, HP this model comes alongwith windows 7 professional, this notebook can be worked for easy and hard work purpose. MS Office Suit works really great on this HP EliteBook 8560p notebook, making spread sheets and power point presentation is never been so easy before. This notebook is little heavy but is made dust free and humidity free, you can carry it easily with its bag and move from one location to another. This notebook designed for multi tasking purpose at a time you can work with office tools, listening music, video voice chat with its web cam and built in mic and a lot.
HP EliteBook 8560P other features include a DVD or Blu-ray drive, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, mobile broadband, Gigabit Ethernet, and an Express Card/54 slot, and a 3-, 6- and 9-cell options.
The EliteBook 8560P business-rugged notebook also equipped with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN, Mobile broadband, two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, Smart Card Reader, Express Card/54 slot and 9-cell HP Ultra Extended Battery provide up to 32 hours of battery life. The HP EliteBook 8560p charger is runs on Genuine Windows 7 operating system and measures in 13.31 x 9.11 x 1.25 inch with starting weight at 4.56 lb (2.07 kg).
The EliteBook 8560P gains many new durability features including an enhanced Duracase which is optimized to prevent damage when the notebook is placed in a backpack. The new DisplaySafe frame is a doubleshot rubber ring that runs along the outside of the display to absorb shock in a backpack. This keeps the display from rubbing on the keys and keeps papers and debris from getting in while in transport.
The EliteBook 8560p has a platinum-colored case with a “bead-blast” finish and an aluminum-alloy hinge. The chassis meets MIL-STD 810G military-standards for drop, vibration, dust, humidity, altitude, and high temperature.
CPU choices range from the dual-core Intel Core i3-2310M at 2.1GHz to quad-core Intel Core i7-2820QM at 2.3GHz, while graphics solution includes the AMD Radeon HD 6470M 1GB dedicated video card besides Intel HD integrated graphics. There are also two SODIMM slots for up to 16GB of DDR3 memory, hard drive capacity of up to 750GB or a 128GB or 160GB solid say drive, and an upgrade bay that can be populated with an optical drive or secondary HDD.
Besides the new representatives of proBook series, HP today announced also a pair of fresh business -notebook series eliteBook on base of processors sandy bridge: 14- inch 8460p and 15,6- inch 8560p. These models are separated by their stylish wear-resistant case of platinum color, and also intensive batteries, capable of bringing the operation time to 32 hours.
The display has a rubber frame around its entirety which helps protect it from bumps and drops, and the island-style keyboard is spill-resistant.The bottom panel of the notebook pops out easily to upgrade the internal components. Speaking of which, the new HP EliteBook 8560p AC adapter will have Intel’s 2nd-Generation Core processors, 7200-rpm hard drives (or SSDs), and options for mobile broadband, and discrete AMD graphics.
HP EliteBook 8560P Power Assistant software extends battery run time while reducing energy consumption through a new simple user interface. It is an integrated solution that measures and logs reported energy usage by the PC and up to four HP connected monitors (for a total of five screens). Users can now create custom power plans and track energy consumption to meet specific computing needs around the clock.
The HP Elitebook 8560p is a serious desktop replacement. I’m looking forward to testing the production model: with the addition of dedicated graphics, and the increased panel resolution, I imagine it will comfortably support graphical work.
Despite the initial delay of Intel's second-generation Core processors (Sandy Bridge), the Elitebooks will be Sandy Bridge-equipped when they ship. They'll also have five different batteries to choose from, the biggest of which is a 100WH HP Elitebook 8560p battery wedge (8 hours) that slides underneath the laptop.
Dimensions of HP 8560p are 14.72 x 9.86 x 1.34 inches and weighs about 6.01 pounds. Like the 8460p, the HP EliteBook 8560p will be available for purchase on March 15th. The Elitebook 8650p also supports docking stations and AMD Eyefinity Technology to handle numerous displays.
