Design
This desktop computer carries the same design language as the other models in the XPS series. They are not the most compact desktops, and you will need to allocate some space for them to fit in. There are a couple of USB ports on the front side along with a media card reader. The rest of the ports can be found on the back side.
The desktop doesn’t come with a display. This means you will have to get a monitor separately to match your needs. You can take a look at our monitor section if you have no idea in this area. Overall, the design is a tested and proven one that still works well.
Dell XPS x8900-3756BLK Specs
The processor in the Dell XPS x8900-3756BLK is an Intel Core i7 chip that belongs to the Skylake generation. This i7 6700K processor is a quad-core that clocks at 4.0GHz. This is an unlocked processor which means you can overclock it if that’s your thing.
The processor can handle any applications without any hiccups or performance issues. Throw something at it and it will run it fine. The desktop is great for general work, editing photos and videos, and even running system-intensive simulations.
The memory department has seen an upgrade. We have 16GB of DDR4 memory which is better than the DDR3 type memory we have been using all these days. You can multitask the hell out of this desktop, and it will still run smoothly. Another advantage here is that you can upgrade the memory to a maximum of 32GB which gives you more freedom and more power.
Dell has got something that other manufacturers haven’t. They have included a 2TB hard drive with 32 gigs of SSD storage. With the hard drive, you have a lot of storage to play with, and the SSD part takes care of the performance. The bootup time, opening and closing of apps are all faster and makes a world of difference if you are coming from a standard hard drive.
The Dell XPS x8900-3756BLK also has a discrete graphics card at its disposal. The Nvidia GeForce GTX745 is an excellent GPU with a dedicated memory of 4GB DDR3. This graphics card can play most of the games freely without any slowing down or struggling. If you are a mid-range gamer, then you will be fine with this setup. You also have the option of upgrading the GPU in the future which is cool.
The operating system here is Windows 10. This is the latest OS from Microsoft, and it makes a good comeback after a disaster like Windows 8. You get a number of new features like a new voice assistant, a revamped browser and much more. If you were a fan of Windows 7, then there is everything to love here.
As for connectivity, we have USB 2.0 ports, USB 3.0 ports, HDMI ports, Display port, DVI port, and also a media card reader. There is also a DVD writer than can be useful to a lot of us. The desktop also supports Bluetooth connectivity which is fine for pairing external devices.
