Design

The design is the most important feature in the ASUS VM42-S075V desktop. This is a compact desktop. With dimensions of 7.48 x 2.21 x 7.48 inches, it is one of the smallest desktop PCs you will ever find. It also weighs around 2.6 pounds which makes it super easy to carry out.

There is no monitor involved so that’s one variable off our review. The ASUS VM42-S075V desktop is powered by an Intel Celeron processor. This is a 4^th generation processor that is built up on the Haswell architecture. People might disregard it thinking it’s just a Celeron but there is more to it.

This Celeron processor clocks at 1.4GHz. This is perfect for a light user as it does streaming videos, browsing the web and other tasks smoothly. You may not be able to run a virtual machine with this thing, but it does what it says.

There are 4 gigs of RAM in the memory department. This is more than enough memory for light users. You can in fact multi task your heart out without facing any performance issues. You can upgrade more RAM if you need but we feel it might be of very little benefit. If you are a light user, then this will do the trick.

The hard drive of this ASUS VM42-S075V desktop comes with a capacity of 500GB which is pretty decent. You can store all your photos, videos, games and other important stuffs without much restriction.

The hard drive also comes pre-installed with a copy of Windows 8.1. This is the latest operating system from Microsoft. Though it’s not everyone’s favorite you can still do everything you intend without any issues. You can also upgrade to Windows 10 for free once it is released this year.

The graphics card here in this ASUS VM42-S075V desktop PC is just the integrated graphics card. It does a decent job for rendering and good enough for casual gaming. If you are casual gamer, you will do just fine. For hardcore gamers this is not the best option.

The desktop does come with a lot of connectivity options. It supports 802.11a/c and Bluetooth 4.0. There are 4 USB 3.0 ports, a 4-in-1 card reader and a display port. The HDMI port will come in handy when you need to connect this with a high end display.
