Design

The desktop comes with a slightly different design than we are used to. The front face of the desktop has been given a facelift, and it now looks pretty neat. There are a couple of USB ports on the front, accompanied by a media card readers and a pair of jacks. There is also a DVD player above these ports as well.

The rest of the ports can be found on the back. The keyboard and the mouse that comes along are pretty standard stuff. They work fine, and that’s it. Overall, the design is good. This is much different from what we’ve seen, and that could make someone happy.

An Intel Core i5 processor is the one that runs this Acer Aspire ATC-705-UR5A desktop computer. This i5 4460 chip comes with a clock speed of 3.2GHz, and that is some serious power. The processor also has a cache of 6MB which should come in very handy when working with large spreadsheet files.

The processor belongs to the Haswell generation of Intel chips. It is a couple of generations old, to be honest, and you are not getting the latest here. This fact has helped in reducing the price of the desktop. Other than this, the processor can handle anything you throw at it without hiccups.

The memory slots in the desktop come with 8GB of RAM installed in them. They are of DDR3 type. This is the sweet spot when it comes to choosing the memory for your computer. As this desktop is made with the mid-range user in mind, 8GB is more than sufficient for daily use.

You can upgrade this RAM if you have to. That is one of the advantages of getting a desktop like this. But honestly, we feel that going for 16 gigs or more for a desktop in this price range is just overkill.

This is not a gaming desktop which is pretty clear with the fact that there is no discrete graphics card in this desktop. We have the Intel HD 4600 graphics card that is good for moderate gaming. If you are a casual or a light gamer, there shouldn’t be a problem here. If you are an online gamer, you can enjoy playing since most of the games use fewer resources in comparison with high-end games.

Another good thing about this desktop is that it comes with a 2TB hard drive. This is a lot of storage space for anyone. This drive might get a bit slow as it is a mechanical drive, but the amount of storage you get makes up for it. The hard drive also comes with Windows 10 Home edition loaded in it. This is the latest OS out there in the Windows side of things, and you will like using it as it is better than its predecessors.
