Arashiyama Bamboo forest, Kyoto, Japan
The Bamboo Forest or Bamboo Grove is one of the top attractions in Kyoto, Japan. It is located away from the city, in Arashiyama area. But well connected by JR. After reaching Kyoto from Osaka, I headed directly to Bamboo Forest, using the 7.24 AM JR train from Kyoto.
Bamboo forest is 10 min walk from Saga Arashiyama station. On the day of my visit, it was pretty early in the day so the area was relatively empty of tourists, but still had few people. A team of filmmakers was at the spot preparing to shoot.
It was a nice feel to see so many green, clean bamboos up close. We do have lots of bamboo trees in India but they are never presented as a tourist attraction. Plus lots of bushes, shrubs and extra fauna all around.
Besides the Bamboo forest, the area has many more attractions to offer. Togetsukyo bridge, Okochi Sanso Villa and many more. Japan-Guide website has more details. But I didn't have the luxury of time to spend days.I headed to nearby Shrine- Daikaku-Ji temple area by walk.
