Dell Inspiron i3531-1200BK 15.6-Inch Laptop Review
Review:
For the budgeted buyer looking for an affordable travel-friendly laptop that’s designed for long term use, the Dell Inspiron i3531-1200BK 15.6-Inch Laptop could be the ideal choice. This popular machine features a slim line chassis which is around 1 inch thick, making it easy to place into your bag on the go. The lid and palm rest are textured to enhance your grip for easier usability when either holding the laptop or typing at the keyword. While this notebook won’t win any awards for its looks, its matte black finish is tasteful and elegant. A good sized screen is included, which is a 15.6" HD WLED display with a 1366x768 max resolution driven by Truelife technology for enhanced contrast.
Under its hood, the Inspiron 15 has an Intel Celeron N2830 Processor and one 4 GB DDR3 RAM module. The dual core processor and this amount of ram will be suffice for most basic computer needs from general web surfing to basic photo editing. This energy efficient Bay Trail Celeron processor uses no fan and has been engineered for super quiet performance, so your laptop will operate nearly silently with the only noise being emitted from the HDD. Storage is provided by a 500GB 5400 rpm SATA Hard Drive, giving you ample space for many files.
As we’d expect on an entry-level laptop, there isn’t a vast array of ports, but there is a decent set to suit most needs. While it lacks an Ethernet port, there is 802.11bgn built-in wireless so its wireless ready out of the box. The HDMI 1.4 port allows you to connect to a HDTV if you want a big screen experience. The two USB 2.0 ports provide enough connectivity to connect to external devices like digital cameras. There is also an 8-in-1 Media Card Reader so you can slot in most types of media cards for quick access to media content.
Battery life on this model is an average of 6.5 hours, which is better than most entry-level notebooks. The removable 4-cell battery is user-replaceable which is an added plus is for those who are going to be using the machine regularly on the go and getting lots of use out of the battery.
Pre-installed with the machine comes Windows 8.1 plus a McAfee Peaks Live Safe 30 day trial and Microsoft Office Trial.
