GReview: Asus Fonepad 2014
Delivery! It's the Asus Fonepad 2014... No I did not get it from Asus so don't think this is a sponsored post.
To begin with, the new 2014 Asus Fonepad is better designed with its thinner bezel that helps for one-hand use. The Dotted-Patterned Back (FE170CG) has nice feel to it and does not attract fingerprints but be sure to have microfiber to clean it once in a while cause when dirt gets between the dots, its hard to clean. FE175CG gets a more metallic brushed back housing.
The device packs a 7 inch WSVGA (1024 X 600 pixels) LED Backlight Display. It's not HD but it delivers good amounts of brightness and vibrant colors. Anti-Fingerprint coating was applied however still iit gets smudges.
Zen UI is LOVE!!! The simplicity is beautiful and it flows smooth, Zen. The Notification bar is very organized from quick settings toggles and notifications. Added features like Do it Later and Whats next is best for organizing your schedules and to do list.
Powering the Fonepad is Intel Atom Dual-Core Z2520 Processor with PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPU. If you think it is under-powered thenthink again because it might not be Quad-Core but it is Quad-Threaded and supports Hyper-Threading that matches performance of some other quad-core chipsets. You also get 1GB RAM and 4GB Internal Storage that can be expanded via MicroSD slot. Actually there are two variants available the FE170CG (4GB) and FE175 (8GB).
See Antutu scored 15K which is comparable to other tablets. |
The Gallery and Camera has also been modified by Asus. The Gallery can be sorted by your liking showing, by default it is by Album showing the latest picture for that album. Turbo Mode and other modes and effects awaits you. Though it must be noted that they also enhanced he vibrancy of colors taken by the camera. Two variants differ where FE170CG gets 3MP Back Camera and VGA Front while FE175CG gets 5MP/1.2MP.
The Best thing of all... Call and Messaging Facility plus HSPA+ data connectivity with Uploads at 5.76Mbps and Download at 42Mbps. This what separates the Fonepad from the rest. Dont worry, you also get the regulars as WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
Battery is at 3950mAh, with 10 hrs of battery life. Believe me it does last longer than other tablets. From this fonepad to my transformer t100, Asus really shines on this category.
To conclude, the new Asus Fonepad 2014 is a feature packed Tablet with Phone Capabilities. It offers you good display, quality internal hardware, unique interface, great battery, and phone capabilities at a price of only 5,999.00 (4GB) (half of what Samsung Tab 3 with 3G cost) and 8,999 (8GB) . The Asus Fonepad is a BESTBUY!!!
