Animal Rescue Centre, Saligrama

Sudheendra Aithal is an animal lover and runs a small rescue centre at his house in Saligrama, a town on NH17 (now NH66) in Udupi District, Karnataka.

He's been running this centre since several years and is a known person in locality for any animal related issues. His house is located close to Saligrama Gurunarasimha temple and those visiting temple usually visit his house to see the animals being treated there.

Below: Sudheendra Aithal shows us a tortoise which was caught by fishermen in their nets- one of its legs is cut off by the fishing net and it is blind- he says. Mr. Aithal feeds it with fish everyday to keep it alive.
Currently his rescue centre houses few horses, wild buffaloes, monkeys, cats, dogs, birds, a Persian cat and so on
The Persian cat gives a stare as I try to make it pose for picture

Sudheendra Aithal once had an issue with law enforcement agencies- as he was taking care of wild animals at his house which is illegal, forest department officials had once confiscated animals. Eventually he got appropriate permit and now all's well. People willingly donate to him as he doesn't ask for money.

Do pay his centre a visit if you love animals and if you're passing through Saligrama town on NH17
