Vandaloor Zoo, Chennai (Anna Zoological Park) Photos
Just sharing a set of decent photos clicked during a recent visit to Vandaloor Zoo in Chennai.
During our lion safari, driver forced the beasts to come out of their hideouts by repeated honking. I guess they came out in anticipation of food, walked around the caged van while we took some photos. Missed some good shots as my camera was irritatingly focusing on the wires of the mesh placed outside van windows, instead of focusing on the animal behind it.
In their captive environment these beasts looked dull and inactive. No other dangerous animal (tiger for example) could be spotted and we came back from restricted areas.During our lion safari, driver forced the beasts to come out of their hideouts by repeated honking. Bird area had lot of painted storks, pelicans and more.

BSA offers cycle rentals within zoo campus and it is a nice offering. Two seat, dual pedal cycles are in high demand there.
Entry fee is Rs 20 per person, lion safari fee is also Rs 20 per person. Compare this with what it costs to enter Bannerghatta or other zoos/parks in Karnataka.
Thanks to Ram for naming some of the birds above.
