HP G60-630us 15.6-Inch Full Review
This elegant machine has a 15” screen and is ideal for several different computer tasks for the everyday average computer user. It is very stylish with a matte finish and a reflective top cover. The laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, an intuitive and easy operating system that allows the owner of the laptop to set up home groups to share files easily and quickly and increases performance and reliability. The 320GB hard drive allows the user to store thousands of songs, videos and movies. Additionally, it has an integrated webcam to keep in touch with friends and family.
You can count on the Hewlett Packard G60-630US for simple productivity and entertainment in high-definition. With its HD BrightView Widescreen Display and high performance Altec Lansing speakers it’s really well suited to listening to music and watching movies. Other essential features include a 5-in-1 card reader, a brilliant built-in HP Webcam, 3 USB ports, 802.11b/g/n wi-fi, a 8X DVD drive and a 3.75-hour HP G60-630US battery life.
The G60-630US screen looks very nice. It’s not awesome, vibrantly colored, but it’s a pretty good display. The computer takes about 3 minutes to completely load to the point where you can browse the web which I’m not a fan of (edit: this was on a restart, since then it has become more along the lines of a minute and a half). Also, the plug-in cord is bulky and will stick about 3 inches out of your computer because it doesn’t have a small end.
The system comes preinstalled with Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium. Other “software” includes Symantec Norton Internet Security 2010 60-day Trial, HP Assistant, HP PC Recovery, HP Advisor, Microsoft Works, Microsoft Office 2007 Home & Student 60-day Trial, Microsoft Silverlight, Sun Java, Rhapsody Music Store, eBay;, Windows Live Photo Gallery,; Cyberlink Power DVD;, Cyberlink YouCamCyberlink DVD Suite, Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, HP Games Powered by Wild Tangent, Cyberlink MediaShow. This HP G60-630US AC adapter provides you with plenty of programs to uninstall upon first use of the machine.
The HP G60-630us LED display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels HD, This affects both the brightness and illumination and displayable colors. Display reflects a little, because the LED Brightview display. Compared to my previous notebooks from HP, Dell and Toshiba, the picture is just really great class. Only the view is weakening. Viewed from the side of the display is much darker (but was also in my other notebooks so).
It's hard to recommend the HP G60-630us given its lackluster performance and relatively stingy feature set. Sure, it can handle your basic home productivity and multimedia tasks, and its $650 price tag is certainly enticing. However, there are plenty of 15-inch notebooks available for around the same price that use the latest mobile processors to deliver superior performance and battery life. The $650 Acer Aspire AS5740-6378, for example, comes with a Core i5 CPU that puts the G60's processor to shame. Still, the Dell Studio 1555-4285MBU remains our top choice for a 15-inch notebook, thanks to its long HP ProBook 4720s battery life, useful feature set, and overall good performance.
