Asian Palmyra Palm (Toddy Palm)
Have you tried this fruit? I am sure you have seen it atleast if not eaten it... I didn't know the name of this, which Rajesh and Anand prompty updated me through comments. Thanks to them.Add a comment to tell us what this fruit is called in your local language.. ( ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ- at least ಕರಾವಳಿ
ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹನೆ ಬೊ೦ಡ ಅ೦ತ ಕರೀತಾರೆ, if I
am not mistaken (ಹನೆ- ಮರದ ಹೆಸರು,
ಬೊ೦ಡ- ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಎಳನೀರಿನ೦ತೆ ಇರುವುದರಿ೦ದ))
Not sure if anyone makes juice out of it... Haven't seen any juice shops experimenting that, though I am sure this thing makes a good juice..
In my childhood I remember getting 3 fruits (3 fruits * 3 pieces) for Re 1.. Currently they are being sold at around Rs 4-5 per fruit (3 pieces)...

May 2009 update: This is getting expensive- was costing Rs 5 an year back for a unit (3 eyes), now costs Rs 10 in Bengaluru. In Chennai 5 eyes (about 2 units) cost Rs 10 currently
